Story behind the Antique Crystal

Mr. Krishna Murari Gupta started out his career at TATA chemicals, selling chemicals on his bike, with his much hard work and great efforts he became famous as “TATA” in Firozabad. The chemicals he used to supply within glass industries was raw material for glass manufacturing.

Mr. Raj Kumar Gupta, son of Krishna Murari Gupta continued his family business but he was not satisfied with the work he was doing. One day, his good friend went to the UK for a holiday. He visited some antique shops there and somehow came away with an order for 50 temple lights. The only problem was that he didn’t have any way of producing them! He called up Gupta and asked him for help, and here Antique Crystal began.

Gupta worked hard and found the perfect combination of glass and materials to make spectacular crystal. With pride, he sent his beautifully made pieces off to the UK to their new owners.

The UK Company opened their order and to their horror, 48 of the 50 crystal lights had broken during transit. Despite this, they were thrilled with the quality and promptly made another order for the remaining lights. These pieces arrived safely, and with much better packaging!

Gupta still oversees Antique Crystal, but it is now also managed by his son Deepak Gupta and grandson Ayushman. They provide fine quality crystal to the international market as well as important clients in India, including Taj Hotels, Oberoi Hotels, Jaivilas Palace and Udaipur City Palace.

Quality is never an accident. It is always the result of intelligent effort”
